General Questions

1. What age range do you provide child care for?

We offer child care services for children from infancy to preschool (6 weeks to 5 years of age), ensuring that every age group receives the care, attention, and developmentally appropriate activities they need.

2. What is the operational hours?

We are open Monday through Friday from 7am to 6pm to accommodate the wide range of parents’ needs. We offer full-time care for infants, toddlers and preschools. Due to the state ratio requirements, we can’t allow any child into the program before 7am. All children must be picked up and have exited the building by 6pm to avoid late charges. If you have an emergency and expect to be late, please call your closet emergency contact and call us to let us know who will be picking up your child. Late charges may apply.

3. What qualifications do your caregivers have?

All of our caregivers are highly qualified and experienced in child care. Our director has a master degree in early childhood education. Our teachers received formal education in early childhood education, and are CPR-certified, all dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of your child.

4. Do you offer part-time or full-time care options?

Yes, we understand parents have different schedules. Whether you require care a few days in a week or full-time support, we can provide consistent, reliable care for your child, depending on the availability.

5. Are your curriculum faith-based?

No. Our curriculum doesn't have any religious elements. Children from all religious and cultural backgrounds are welcomed!

6. Are meals and snacks provided?

Yes, we provide nutritious meals and snacks, so busy parents have one less thing to worry about! There is no additional cost for the meals. We make sure every meal is delicious and suitable for the child’s age group.

7. What are your curriculum and daily activities?

We adopt research-based, age-appropriate HighScope curriculum, which uses indicators to track the progress of the teaching activities and children’s progress. We are inspired by Nature and Reggio Emelia Approach. Children are encouraged to explore nature and use "1000 languages" to express themselves. Our activities include interactive play, arts and crafts, reading sessions, outdoor activities, and educational games designed to foster learning, creativity, and teamwork.

8. How do you communicate with parents about their child's day?

We understand that communication is key. Our caregivers provide regular updates on your child’s activities, behavior, and progress using Procare. You’ll receive daily reports, and we’re always available for more detailed conversations if you have any questions or concerns.

9. Can I tour the child care facility before enrolling?

Absolutely! We encourage parents to schedule a tour of our facility to see the environment first-hand, meet the caregivers, and ask any questions you may have. We want you to feel confident and comfortable in choosing our child care services for your little one.

10. How do I enroll my child in your program?

Enrolling your child is easy. Simply contact us to schedule a consultation, where we’ll discuss your child’s needs, and then proceed with the enrollment forms. After that, we’ll set up a start date and ensure that your child’s transition into our care is smooth and welcoming.

Child's Comfort and Safety

1. How do you ensure the safety of my child?

The safety of your child is our top priority. Our facilities are secure, with monitored entrances and exits. All caregivers are thoroughly vetted, including background checks. We also follow strict safety protocols to ensure a secure environment both indoors and outdoors.

Our care team will supervise your child at all times – even during quiet or nap time. Sunny Grove also adheres to Infant Safe Sleep guidelines and has implemented other policies for older children to have the safest possible environment while in our care.

2. How do you help my child to transition to school?

We will talk the parents to understand the child’s habit and personality during the registration. We encourage the child to visit the school with the parents prior to the starting day. The child may bring a familiar blanket, stuffed animal, family photos to the classroom. Our teachers will help the children to develop a routine, so the child may have expectation. Most importantly, our teachers will comfort the child, help him/her socialize with peers and fit it the daily routine with lots of love and patience.

Every child adjusts to the school differently. It would be helpful if the parents prepare the child prior to the attendance. Some suggestions include reading a related book, talking to the child about going to a school, and developing a morning routine.

3. Is there a place for my child's belongings?

Yes! All children have their own cubby for their items located in each of the classrooms. We ask the parents to label all the child’s items to avoid loss.

4. Can my child bring his/her favorite blanket or stuffed animal to school?

Yes, the child can bring his/her favorite blanket or stuffed animal to school. However their favorite toys should be left at home to prevent damage or loss of the item. We offer special events where children can share items with their classmates.

Infant Care

1. Do you provide diapers?

Yes! The diapers are included in the tuition.

2. Can I feed my baby in person at Sunny Grove?

Yes! Nothing can replace the mother-baby bonding. We can work together to find out a time that is convenient to the mother and the teachers for you to feed your baby.

3. Do I need to bring breast milk and infant formula to the classroom?

Yes please! For the health and the safety of the child, the breast milk and/or infant formula will be prepared by the parents. The infant formula should be prepared in advance daily and brought to the classroom in the liquid form. Both the breast milk and the infant formula should be portioned and labeled in separate bottles. We will store the breast milk and the infant formula in the fridge. When it is the time to feed the baby, we will warm it before the it is served. 

4. When do you feed the babies?

We will feed the babies according to the schedules provided by the parents. We will ask the feeding schedule during the registration.

5. How do you sooth my crying baby?

During your registration process, we do an interview with you to learn the techniques you use at home to soothe your child. Whenever possible, we use the same techniques that work for your child at home. Our teachers are experienced to comfort the baby in a loving way.

6. What activities do you have for the babies?

For our babies and young toddlers, we focus on love, care, and playful learning. Activities grow with them — from tummy time and sensory play for infants to music, early art, stacking toys, and walking games for 1-year-olds. We support language through songs, stories, and baby sign language. And whenever the weather allows, we enjoy fresh air with stroller walks, bubbles, and outdoor exploring. You’ll get daily updates with sweet moments and milestones!

Health

1.What are the sanitation procedures?

We want all the children to be healthy while at Sunny Grove. To ensure all children's health, we require that children do not attend school until they are fever-free or symptom-free for 24 hours.

If the child shows fever or concerning symptoms, we may ask the parents to pick up the child immediately. In critical situations, we will contact the child’s medical program.

2. What is the attendance policy when my child is ill?

Our facility is cleaned professionally, and using a safe disinfectant, including all toys and equipment, classrooms, bathrooms, and offices.

Tuition and Payment

1.What is the tuition?

The tuition varies according to the programs and the number of days the child attends. We encourage all the prospective parents to tour our facility and further discuss the rates. Please feel free to schedule a tour for a time convenient to you.  

2.Is there a sibling discount?

Yes! If you currently have one child attending our preschool, we are pleased to offer 10% of the discount on the tuitions for all the other siblings.

3. Is there financial assistance available for those in need?

Yes! We work with California Alternative Payment Program (CAPP) and CalWorks Program to provide financial assistance of the tuition. Please read more of the assistance by clicking the program names.

4. What type of payment methods do you accept?

We we accept most major credit cards, debit cards and ACH for payments, we encourage parents to use ACH, as credit and debit cards comes with transaction fees to the parents. You may set up the automatic payment through our communication software. We also accept checks. Unfortunately, we don’t accept cash for payment.
